Dendrobium purpureum

$35.00

This Dendrobium  species is a member of section Pedilonum, it is native to the Moluccas (Indonesia), New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands.

Flowers are produced along the cane in a pom prom, ball shape carry 5-25 flowers.  Individual flowers are ¼” – ½”.  Canes, even leafless, will flower for several years after the initial flush.  Plants prefer copious water when in growth BUT still require drying between watering.  When growths mature stop watering.  The leaves will begin to yellow and fall.  At this time you will notice small bumps along the ends of the canes.  These are the inflorescences.  Plants will grow and flower under Cattleya light levels but will flower better and proliferate faster under brighter light.
