Laurus nobilis, commonly called bay laurel or bay leave,is native to the Mediterranean. It is a pyramidal, aromatic, evergreen shrub that are about 10-30’ tall. For garden or container purposes, it is often pruned to 8’ tall or less.

Leathery, thick, elliptic to oval, glossy dark green leaves (2-4” long) from this tree are commonly used as a culinary herb. Small yellowish green flowers bloom in spring. In ancient Greece, leaves of this tree were woven into wreaths to crown the victors of various contests.

This is a great addition as a house plant or container, and you have Bay leave whenever you need!
